רבי יהודה בריה דרבי חייא Rabbi Yehuda son of Rabbi Chiya
Amora of the Land of Israel · 1st generation (c. 220–250 CE) — named 16 times across 5 tractates of the Bavli.
Rabbi Yehuda son of Rabbi Chiya, of the first amoraic generation in Eretz Yisrael, was a son and student of Rabbi Chiya the Great and a son-in-law of Rabbi Yannai. The Bavli writes him with both titles.
He is named some sixteen times, and in only five tractates — Zevachim, Menachot, Eruvin, Chullin and Sanhedrin — an unusually narrow spread, weighted to the order of sacrifices. Rabbi Yochanan and the sages of Rabbi Yannai's circle are the company he keeps.
Son-in-law of Rabbi Yannai.
