Rabbi Tavi, of the third amoraic generation in Eretz Yisrael, is in the Bavli almost entirely as the voice of one teacher: of his twelve mentions, eight open a teaching given in Rabbi Yoshiya's name, so that the formula Rabbi Tavi said in the name of Rabbi Yoshiya is most of what he is.

He appears in five tractates, spread evenly across Berachot, Yoma, Megillah, Sanhedrin and Shekalim. The entry is marked for review; the channel is what the corpus preserves of him.
