Rabbi Simon, of the fourth amoraic generation in Eretz Yisrael, was an aggadist. Ten of his sixteen mentions are in Shekalim, whose Gemara in our Shas is the Yerushalmi's — the one place in the printed Shas where the sages of the land are heard in their own Gemara.

Five of his citations carry a teaching in Rabbi Yehoshua ben Levi's name. The entry is marked for review; beyond the generation, the centre and that channel of transmission, the reference tradition holds little that can be stated firmly.

An aggadist of Eretz Yisrael.
