רבי שמעון בן יהודה Rabbi Shimon ben Yehuda
Tanna · 4th generation (c. 135–170 CE) — named 64 times across 21 tractates of the Bavli.
Rabbi Shimon ben Yehuda, of the fourth tannaitic generation, was of Kfar Ikos, and he appears in the Talmud almost entirely in one role: reporting teachings in the name of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai. The formula Rabbi Shimon ben Yehuda says in the name of Rabbi Shimon introduces most of his sixty-odd mentions.
His rulings are weighted toward Bava Kamma and Bechorot. For a learner, his name is a signal that what follows is Rashbi's position as his school preserved it, which the Gemara will often weigh against the version given elsewhere in Rashbi's own name.
Of Kfar Ikos, in the name of Rabbi Shimon.
