Amora of the Land of Israel · 3rd generation (c. 290–320 CE) — named 54 times across 22 tractates of the Bavli.

Amora of the Land of Israel · 3rd generation×54 named in the Bavli22 tractates11 as a patronymic

Rabbi Shimon ben Pazi, of the third amoraic generation in Eretz Yisrael, is an aggadist, and his name comes to a learner most often as a transmitter: the formula Rabbi Shimon ben Pazi said in the name of Rabbi Yehoshua ben Levi introduces a good part of what the Bavli holds from that master.

He is quoted in others' names some sixteen times and named some fifty-five, spread across twenty-two tractates with the heaviest weight in Berachot. His expositions of verses, particularly on prayer and on the ordering of the Psalms, are among those the later tradition repeats.

An aggadist of Eretz Yisrael.
