רבי דוסא בן הרכינס Rabbi Dosa ben Harkinas
Tanna · 1st generation (c. 10–80 CE) — named 90 times across 21 tractates of the Bavli.
Rabbi Dosa ben Harkinas belongs to the first tannaitic generation and lived into the days of Yavneh as one of its oldest surviving elders — a man who had seen the Temple and whose testimony about earlier practice the younger sages sought out. The Talmud describes the delegation that went to his house to ask him, and the reverence with which he received them.
He is named some ninety times across twenty-one tractates, heaviest in Bava Kamma and Bava Metzia. His rulings matter to a learner chiefly as evidence of what was held before Yavneh had to decide it.
Long-lived elder of Yavneh.
