רבי חונה Rabbi Chuna (Eretz Yisrael)
Amora of the Land of Israel · 4th generation (c. 320–350 CE) — named 25 times across 1 tractate of the Bavli.
Rabbi Chuna, of the fourth amoraic generation in Eretz Yisrael. He is a special case in this index: all twenty-five of his mentions are in Shekalim, and the Gemara printed on Shekalim in our Shas is the Yerushalmi's, not the Bavli's. That is why the name is spelled the Yerushalmi way — חונה, חונייא — and why it appears nowhere else in the corpus.
He is a sage of the land, cited among the Eretz-Yisrael amoraim of the later generations, carrying teachings in others' names and having his own carried in turn. The entry is marked for review, and this bio goes no further than the corpus does.
The Yerushalmi spelling; appears in Shekalim, whose Gemara comes from the Yerushalmi.
