רבי חנינא בן אנטיגנוס Rabbi Chanina ben Antigonos
Tanna · 2nd generation (c. 80–110 CE) — named 47 times across 13 tractates of the Bavli.
Rabbi Chanina ben Antigonos, of the second tannaitic generation, was a priest, and what he contributes to the Mishnah is largely testimony about the Temple: the examination of blemishes, the service of the priests and the practice of the courtyard as he had seen it.
Almost all of his forty-seven mentions fall in Bechorot, Niddah and the tractates that deal with such questions, which is exactly what one expects of a witness rather than a theoretician. For a learner he is one of the last direct reports of how the Temple actually worked.
A priest who testified to Temple practice.
