Rabbi Chama bar Chanina, of the second amoraic generation in Eretz Yisrael, was the son of Rabbi Chanina bar Chama of Tzippori and his student. He is chiefly an expositor of verses, and his readings are cited throughout the Bavli's aggadah.

His best-known teaching is the answer to how a man may walk after God, who is a consuming fire: that one follows His attributes — as He clothes the naked, visits the sick, comforts mourners and buries the dead, so should you. He is named some seventy-five times, most heavily in Sotah and Berachot.

Son of Rabbi Chanina bar Chama.
