Amora of the Land of Israel · 5th generation (c. 350–375 CE) — named 9 times across 5 tractates of the Bavli.

Amora of the Land of Israel · 5th generation×9 named in the Bavli5 tractates

Rabbi Berechya, of the fifth amoraic generation in Eretz Yisrael, was an aggadist of the later generations of the land, and he is far better represented in the midrashic collections of Eretz Yisrael than in the Babylonian Talmud, which meets him only in passing.

He is named nine times across five tractates, three of them in Shekalim, whose Gemara in our Shas comes from the Yerushalmi, and three in Yoma.

An aggadist of the late Eretz-Yisrael generations.
