Rabbi Avdimi of Haifa, of the third amoraic generation in Eretz Yisrael, is named six times across five tractates, most often in Bava Batra, and Rabbi Abbahu reports a teaching in his name.

His is the statement, cited wherever the question of prophecy after the destruction is raised, that from the day the Temple was destroyed prophecy was taken from the prophets and given to the sages. The roster records a shorter form of his name as well and marks the entry for review, since that form does not always separate him from others called Avdimi.
