רבה תוספאה Rabbah Tosfaah
Savora · 1st generation (c. 500–540 CE) — named 4 times across 3 tractates of the Bavli.
Rabbah Tosfaah belongs to the Savoraim, the generation that followed the amoraim and gave the Talmud the form in which it has come down to us. The tradition of the geonim names him among those who headed the academy at Sura in that period, and explains his title from the supplements he contributed — tosafot, additions made to sugyot that had been left short.
He is named four times in this corpus, twice in Moed Katan and once each in Bava Kamma and Berachot, and appears beside Ravina. Little beyond this is recorded of him.
Of the Savoraic generation.
