רבה בר אבוה Rabbah bar Avuha
Amora of Babylonia · 2nd generation (c. 250–290 CE) — named 222 times across 30 tractates of the Bavli.
Rabbah bar Avuha, of the second Babylonian generation, was of the exilarch's family and the father-in-law of Rav Nachman, who cites him constantly — he is quoted by other sages some hundred and seventy times, nearly all of it through Rav Nachman.
He is a judge before he is a lecturer, and his mentions gather in Bava Batra, Bava Metzia and Eruvin. The Talmud tells of his meeting with Elijah, and of his asking him, being poor, how a man in his position might come by means honestly.
Father-in-law of Rav Nachman.
