מר זוטרא Mar Zutra
Amora of Babylonia · 6th generation (c. 375–425 CE) — named 207 times across 31 tractates of the Bavli.
Mar Zutra, of the sixth Babylonian generation, appears throughout the last strata of the Bavli beside Rav Ashi and Amemar, the three of them ruling and travelling together.
The name is borne by more than one sage in the last amoraic generations — the Talmud also names a Mar Zutra son of Rav Nachman and a Mar Zutra son of Rav Mari — and the Bavli's unqualified form does not always separate them; they are not split here. He is named some two hundred times across thirty-one tractates, heaviest in Berachot and Bava Batra.
More than one sage of the name; the Bavli does not always separate them.
