לוי Levi bar Sisi
Tanna · 5th generation (c. 170–200 CE) — named 388 times across 35 tractates of the Bavli.
Levi bar Sisi was of Rabbi Yehuda HaNasi's household and among the last of the tannaim, and he went down to Babylonia, where Shmuel's father and Shmuel's circle received him. He compiled his own collection of tannaitic teachings, and the Talmud cites it as the school of Levi taught — a body of material that stands beside the Mishnah rather than inside it.
He is named some three hundred and ninety times across thirty-five tractates. Because bare לוי is also the tribe and the levite, this index counts the name as the sage only where it does not follow ben, bnei, bat or shevet.
Of Rebbi's house; went down to Babylonia. Bare לוי is blocked after בן/בני/בת so the tribe and the levite are not counted as the sage.
