וַיְהִי שָׁאוּל עון אֶת־דָּוִד מֵהַיּוֹם הַהוּא וָהָֽלְאָה
And Saul eyed David from that day and forward.
וַיְהִי מִֽמָּחֳרָת וַתִּצְלַח רוּחַ אֱלֹהִים רָעָה אֶל־שָׁאוּל וַיִּתְנַבֵּא בְתוֹךְ־הַבַּיִת וְדָוִד מְנַגֵּן בְּיָדוֹ כְּיוֹם בְּיוֹם וְהַחֲנִית בְּיַד־שָׁאֽוּל
And it came to pass on the morrow, that an evil spirit from God came mightily upon Saul, and he raved in the midst of the house; and David played with his hand, as he did day by day; and Saul had his spear in his hand.
וַיָּטֶל שָׁאוּל אֶֽת־הַחֲנִית וַיֹּאמֶר אַכֶּה בְדָוִד וּבַקִּיר וַיִּסֹּב דָּוִד מִפָּנָיו פַּעֲמָֽיִם
And Saul cast the spear; for he said: ‘I will smite David even to the wall.’ And David stepped aside out of his presence twice.
וַיִּרָא שָׁאוּל מִלִּפְנֵי דָוִד כִּֽי־הָיָה יְהוָה עִמּוֹ וּמֵעִם שָׁאוּל סָֽר
And Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him, and was departed from Saul.
וַיְסִרֵהוּ שָׁאוּל מֵֽעִמּוֹ וַיְשִׂמֵהוּ לוֹ שַׂר־אָלֶף וַיֵּצֵא וַיָּבֹא לִפְנֵי הָעָֽם
Therefore Saul removed him from him, and made him his captain over a thousand; and he went out and came in before the people.
