וַיְדַבֵּר מֹשֶׁה וְאֶלְעָזָר הַכֹּהֵן אֹתָם בְּעַֽרְבֹת מוֹאָב עַל־יַרְדֵּן יְרֵחוֹ לֵאמֹֽר
And Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke with them in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, saying:
מִבֶּן עֶשְׂרִים שָׁנָה וָמָעְלָה כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה אֶת־מֹשֶׁה וּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל הַיֹּצְאִים מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם
’[Take the sum of the people,] from twenty years old and upward, as the LORD commanded Moses and the children of Israel, that came forth out of the land of Egypt.’
רְאוּבֵן בְּכוֹר יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּנֵי רְאוּבֵן חֲנוֹךְ מִשְׁפַּחַת הַחֲנֹכִי לְפַלּוּא מִשְׁפַּחַת הַפַּלֻּאִֽי
Reuben, the first-born of Israel: the sons of Reuben: of Hanoch, the family of the Hanochites; of Pallu, the family of the Palluites;
לְחֶצְרֹן מִשְׁפַּחַת הַֽחֶצְרוֹנִי לְכַרְמִי מִשְׁפַּחַת הַכַּרְמִֽי
of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites; of Carmi, the family of the Carmites.
אֵלֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹת הָרֻֽאוּבֵנִי וַיִּהְיוּ פְקֻדֵיהֶם שְׁלֹשָׁה וְאַרְבָּעִים אֶלֶף וּשְׁבַע מֵאוֹת וּשְׁלֹשִֽׁים
These are the families of the Reubenites; and they that were numbered of them were forty and three thousand and seven hundred and thirty.
