אִם־אֵֽין־לְךָ לְשַׁלֵּם לָמָּה יִקַּח מִשְׁכָּבְךָ מִתַּחְתֶּֽיךָ
If thou hast not wherewith to pay, Why should he take away thy bed from under thee?
אַל־תַּסֵּג גְּבוּל עוֹלָם אֲשֶׁר עָשׂוּ אֲבוֹתֶֽיךָ
Remove not the ancient landmark, Which thy fathers have set.
חָזִיתָ אִישׁ מָהִיר בִּמְלַאכְתּוֹ לִֽפְנֵֽי־מְלָכִים יִתְיַצָּב בַּל־יִתְיַצֵּב לִפְנֵי חֲשֻׁכִּֽים
Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; He shall not stand before mean men.
כִּֽי־תֵשֵׁב לִלְחוֹם אֶת־מוֹשֵׁל בִּין תָּבִין אֶת־אֲשֶׁר לְפָנֶֽיךָ
When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider well him that is before thee;
וְשַׂמְתָּ שַׂכִּין בְּלֹעֶךָ אִם־בַּעַל נֶפֶשׁ אָֽתָּה
And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite.
