מַֽיִם־גְּנוּבִים יִמְתָּקוּ וְלֶחֶם סְתָרִים יִנְעָֽם
’Stolen waters are sweet, And bread eaten in secret is pleasant.’
וְֽלֹא־יָדַע כִּֽי־רְפָאִים שָׁם בְּעִמְקֵי שְׁאוֹל קְרֻאֶֽיהָ
But he knoweth not that the shades are there; that her guests are in the depths of the nether-world.
מִשְׁלֵי שְׁלֹמֹה בֵּן חָכָם יְשַׂמַּח־אָב וּבֵן כְּסִיל תּוּגַת אִמּֽוֹ
The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father; but a foolish son is the grief of his mother.
לֹא־יוֹעִילוּ אוֹצְרוֹת רֶשַׁע וּצְדָקָה תַּצִּיל מִמָּֽוֶת
Treasures of wickedness profit nothing; but righteousness delivereth from death.
לֹֽא־יַרְעִיב יְהוָה נֶפֶשׁ צַדִּיק וְהַוַּת רְשָׁעִים יֶהְדֹּֽף
The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish; but He thrusteth away the desire of the wicked.
