שָׂמוֹ אָדוֹן לְבֵיתוֹ וּמֹשֵׁל בְּכָל־קִנְיָנֽוֹ
He made him lord of his house, And ruler of all his possessions;
לֶאְסֹר שָׂרָיו בְּנַפְשׁוֹ וּזְקֵנָיו יְחַכֵּֽם
To bind his princes at his pleasure, And teach his elders wisdom.
וַיָּבֹא יִשְׂרָאֵל מִצְרָיִם וְיַעֲקֹב גָּר בְּאֶֽרֶץ־חָֽם
Israel also came into Egypt; And Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.
וַיֶּפֶר אֶת־עַמּוֹ מְאֹד וַיַּֽעֲצִמֵהוּ מִצָּרָֽיו
And He increased His people greatly, And made them too mighty for their adversaries.
הָפַךְ לִבָּם לִשְׂנֹא עַמּוֹ לְהִתְנַכֵּל בַּעֲבָדָֽיו
He turned their heart to hate His people, To deal craftily with His servants.
