The priest who kept the ark with Evyatar under David, stayed loyal through Avshalom's revolt, and anointed Shlomo at the Gichon when Adoniyah moved to take the throne (2 Samuel 15; 1 Kings 1). His line held the high priesthood thereafter; Yechezkel's temple is served by “the sons of Tzadok”.

And Azariah the chief priest, of the house of Zadok, answered him and said: ‘Since the people began to bring the offerings into the house of the LORD, we have eaten and had enough, and have left plenty; for the LORD hath blessed His people; and that which is left is this great store.’
