Of the tribe of Binyamin, anointed by Shmuel as Israel's first king. He won early victories but was rejected by God for disobedience regarding Amalek, grew tormented and jealous of David, and died with his sons on Mount Gilboa in battle with the Philistines (1 Samuel 9-31). Then said David: ‘Will the men of Keilah deliver up me and my men into the hand of Saul?’ And the LORD said: ‘They will deliver thee up.’

Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying: ‘Doth not David hide himself with us in the strongholds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?

So David checked his men with these words, and suffered them not to rise against Saul. And Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on his way.

A spelling is not a name. The written word שאול stands 394 times in the corpus, which is a different question and often a different number: the same letters can spell another name or an ordinary word, and a name written with a particle attached is a word that search never returns.
