Sister of Moshe and Aharon, called a prophetess, who watched over the infant Moshe at the Nile and led the women in song after the sea split (Exodus 2, 15). She was struck with tzara'at after speaking against Moshe and died in the wilderness at Kadesh (Numbers 12, 20).
