Chief minister to King Achashverosh of Persia, an Agagite who, enraged at Mordechai's refusal to bow to him, plotted the destruction of all the Jews in the empire. His plot was exposed by Ester and he was hanged on the gallows he had built for Mordechai (Book of Esther). This spelling is identical to “the manna” that fed Israel in the wilderness, so the count includes both, and most of its occurrences are the food, not the man.

Then said Esther: ‘If it please the king, let it be granted to the Jews that are in Shushan to do to-morrow also according unto this day’s decree, and let Haman’s ten sons be hanged upon the gallows.’

because Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had devised against the Jews to destroy them, and had cast pur, that is, the lot, to discomfit them, and to destroy them;
A spelling is not a name. The written word המן stands 47 times in the corpus, which is a different question and often a different number: the same letters can spell another name or an ordinary word, and a name written with a particle attached is a word that search never returns. It is here, as itself.
