The Sages of the Talmud

רב סימונא Rav Simona

Savora · 1st generation (c. 500–540 CE) — not named in a form this corpus separates from a namesake.

Savora · 1st generationWants a person’s eye

Rav Simona belongs to the Savoraim, the generation that followed the amoraim and settled the Talmud in the form that has come down to us.

Like most of that generation he is known from the geonic accounts rather than from the page itself: this edition of the Bavli does not write his name, and he stands in the index at no mentions. His era and that listing are the whole of what can be said with confidence.

Of the Savoraic generation.

The gematria of the name

Computed from the consonantal letters of רב סימונא by the same engine that runs every search. This is the value of a NAME — no word of the Talmud is valued anywhere in this app.

This corpus never writes this name on its own. Either the Bavli does not name him at all, or every form it uses is one a sage of the same name also answers to — and this index credits nobody rather than guessing. He is in the roster, at zero, because leaving him out would be its own kind of lie.
